Putting the clocks back and forward
When and why we change the clocks at the start and end of British Summer Time, and how it affects us.
Every year, at 1am on the last Sunday in October – the 26th in 2025 – the clocks go forward by an hour, we lose an hour in bed, and the days get darker earlier. And every year, at 1am on the last Sunday in March – the 29th in 2026 – the clocks go forward by an hour, we lose an hour in bed, and the days get lighter later.
